Using rings and beautiful hand-dyed yarns, we'll start with the four techniques of casting, slicking, laying and rounding to make the famous Crosswheel design. With these techniques mastered there will be an opportunity to explore other stitches to make your own design.

Tania Ashton Jones is a Dorset Button maker, designer and hand knitter.  Brought up in Dorset and now living on the Isle of Skye, Tania’s creative business TJFrog loves contributing to keeping alive the traditional skill of the handmade Dorset Button, a cottage industry dating back to the 1600s.  Tania makes buttons and various accessories using Dorset Buttony techniques and loves sourcing a variety of different yarns and choosing a design to best showcase the yarn.

Dorset Button making is a fantastic creative skill that involves using our hands to make a beautiful small object that can be used functionally or to embellish. Their size, action of making and simplicity of beauty make this a great project to explore creativity and support wellness.
